David Hurst

David attained BSc in Agriculture from the SAC in Edinburgh. He started his career as a farm manager on a mixed 425 ha farm in Perthshire, Scotland in 2011.

David joined us at Law Farming in 2013 as Arable Manager. Since then the business has seen rapid expansion by nearly 400 ha as we have concentrated our arable production into high-value seed and milling crops.

In 2019 David became our Farm Manager. He is always looking to improve the efficiency of our operations. He has implemented a full review of our labour, livestock, machinery and cropping policy and is keen to continue to grow the business with farming remaining at its core. He’s looking to reduce our fixed costs while retaining our attention to detail and efficiency to produce high-value crops and livestock.

In early 2018 David and a neighbouring farmer successfully applied to take part in the AHDB Monitor Farms program. They have started out on a three-year journey which will provide coherent and practical advice to them both and other like-minded farmers.

David was chairman of the Royston & Buntingford District Agricultural & Ploughing Society from 2016-2019 and the Mid Anglia Branch of The Institute of Agricultural Management from 2017-2019.
